UK Coffee Week for Project Waterfall
4 – 10 May 2015
Clean drinking water is a basic human right which every person in the world should have access to. Despite this, 738 million people currently try to survive without it. That's one in nine of us. Project Waterfall is an initiative developed by the Allegra Foundation (registered charity: 1133540) to bring clean water and sanitation to the communities which grow our coffee.
Over UK Coffee Week a nationwide fundraising initiative took place with the objective to raise money for communities in Tanzania and Rwanda that grow our coffee. All funds that were raised during the week will go directly to Project Waterfall.
The Climpsons got involved in the cause across a number of initiatives:
- Coffee sales: 5p of every coffee sold at Climpson’s Café contributed back
- Sales of retail coffee: 50p of every bag sold of our Huila from Colombia
- Cupping Club Event: A cupping event took place on Wednesday 6th May with gold coin donations going back to Project Waterfall
It was a successful week for us with £194.13 raised. To put that into human terms, the amount raised is enough to change 12 people’s lives by providing them with a sustainable source of clean water and sanitation.
