The ultimate collaboration — Slopes of 8 AA

2 x 150g – whole bean only

A collaboration built on a shared enthusiasm for Slopes of 8 and their impressive work. We thought it would be the perfect opportunity to come together and demonstrate the varying flavour development and nuances between our hot air Loring roaster, in comparison to Square Mile’s Probat drum roaster. We hope you enjoy this limited side by side offering, as much as we enjoyed the exchange of ideas and process of collaborating. As a part of Kenyacof’s farm-gate project, Slopes of 8 have risen to coffee stardom in only three years. Managed and advised by Wycliffe, renowned agronomist and coffee expert to the Kenyacof group, these 8 farmers have adopted uniform farm management methods as well as pre and post-harvest procedures, resulting in consistent quality and year on year improvements as their crops grow. No small feat for a group of farmers all above the age of 58. Here’s to never being too old to work together and learn!

Please note these are two 150g bags of the same coffee — one roasted by us and one roasted by Square Mile. There will be a single roast on Monday 14th October, with an extremely limited amount, being shipped on Wednesday 16th October and only available as whole bean.

The Story

Slopes of 8 AA is a fruit forward and complex Kenyan coffee from an infamous collective of 8 neighbouring farmers in the Kirinyaga region.

Working together with a local agronomist, the Slopes of 8 producers are continually improving quality by processing their own coffee and choosing to by-pass the central auction system. Rather than submitting their coffee to a large co-op or factory, this project allows the group to sell directly to exporters, oversee their own production standards and ensure that the improved prices are paid directly back to them. Not only do we see a more transparent cup quality but also a more transparent supply chain.
