Our Locations

The Original East London Coffee Shop

Born out of a desire to bring specialty coffee to London, Climpson & Sons has been a welcoming venue for the Hackney community since 2002. Previously a butchers, Climpson & Sons gained it's first concrete home, after Ian Burgess saw the opportunity to grow from a market coffee cart, to a cafe in the centre of a thriving and vibrant community.

The cafe on Broadway Market offers a friendly and relaxed atmosphere for customers to enjoy an expertly curated coffee menu, roasted down the road at their London Fields coffee roastery.

We recommend the Broadway Blend, a bespoke seasonal coffee, for the perfect flat white or well balanced espresso. For an adventurous espresso, The Fields is a a rotating coffee based on what's boundary pushing and seasonal, a key part of our forward-thinking desire for quality and innovation. These coffees represent our standing as one of the pioneers in the London coffee scene, with their title a nod to our local London Fields neighbourhood.

Climpson & Sons Cafe offers daily fresh pastries and filled focaccia from Dusty Knuckle and uses produce that is sourced from local businesses, helping to sustain the community that surrounds the café.

You can also stock up on our full range of 250g retail coffees, with something for the adventurous home brewer and mug drinker alike. We also offer a range of home brewing equipment.

This cafe is set up with a La Marzocco KB90, Mahlkönig E65 grinder, a Curtis Gold Cup brewer, and a BWT Bestmax 2XL Premium Filter.

The Broadway Market Coffee Cart

In 2002, founder Ian Burgess, was determined to bring quality coffee to London and the Climpson's Coffee Cart was how he started. Visiting and serving markets for a couple of years it was in 2005 that he set up a home in East London's Broadway Market. You can still find us here today. Wander through the market stalls, taste local produce and grab a cup of Climpson's from the original spot on the street.

The Coffee Bar On Old Spitalfields Market

Celebrating our roots as a market stall, but with a more permanent and grown-up twist, expect the unexpected at the Climpson’s Coffee Bar at Old Spitalfields Market.

The Climpson’s Coffee Bar offers the ultimate 360-degree coffee experience for people to come and explore. Featuring cutting-edge technology with the Strada espresso system combined with some good old-fashioned Climpson’s hospitality.

Our expertly curated coffee menu sourced and roasted at our London Fields Roastery will be available to try then and there, or to take away with you. Batch  brews with seasonal single origin filter coffees and a full espresso coffee menu from the Strada espresso system. Try our Nitro Cold Brew on tap, as well as our signature Espresso Martini and beer on tap for the all-around bar experience.

“It’s a chance for us to bring Old Spitalfields Market into the modern day, and to celebrate all of the creative people and talent within this pocket of London” - Nuno Mendes.

At this location, we offer The Baron and The Estate on espresso, a selection of seasonal single origins for filter, and nitro cold brew on tap. We also sell retail 250g bags from our range of coffee, and a range of home brewing equipment.

This cafe is set up with the Strada AV Espresso Bar, two Mahlkönig E65 grinders, and a Mahlkönig EK43 grinder.

Our East London Hub

Since its beginning, Climpson's Arch has been a home to innovation, both within coffee and food. Our restaurant residency came from a desire to continue our pursuit of innovation within taste. We've been lucky to play hosts to some fantastic minds within food. As Climpson & Sons moves forward, so does the Arch. Coffee roasting is now the main focus of this space as we expand and focus our attention on all things coffee.

Past Residents

We are proud to have played host to some exciting residencies such as; Som Saa, Tom Parry of Kitty Fisher's and Licky Chops (Lucky Chips alter ego), Burnt Ends, L.C. (Leandro Carreira, now Londrino), Smoking Goat, and Bar Barbarian.

Summer 2020

We are excited to announce that after a brief hiatus, Climpsons Arch is welcoming old friends and favourites Brat to fire up the grill again. Join them outdoors for whole turbot, spider crab, grilled peas and wood fired breads. Book your table here.

Climpson's Academy

Nestled directly across from Climpson's Arch, our training academy serves at a home base for our office staff and as a haven for training and education for our customers.

Brewing and making coffee is a very important part of the chain and we want all our products to be showcased in the best possible light. All our wholesale customers receive complimentary barista training at our academy with one of our experienced trainers - Lisa-Laura and Rudi.

From coffee theory to practical skills, we teach it all at Climpson's Academy.

The North to East London Neighbourhood Guide

Our Head Account Manager, Lisa-Laura Verhoust took to the streets of Tottenham, Stoke Newington and our home-turf in Hackney to bring you a neighbourhood guide for the perfect Saturday journeying from North to East London. We stopped off for a great cup of Climpsons, as well as breakfast, lunch, dinner and a few other cheeky drinks along the way. There’s no better way to spend a weekend in the neighbourhood.

North, South, West London and the rest of the UK … we’re looking at you. Where should we visit on our next Climpson's coffee tour? Tag your best picks @climpsonandsons with the hashtag #climpsonscoffeetour or get in touch with admin@climpsonandsons.com to feature in our next guide.

Swiftly making themselves at home in their new location in Tottenham, we headed to Craving to sample the new brunch menu and boy was it good.

Matt (a proud ex-Climpson!) and Rachel started Craving back in 2014 as a humble coffee cart at Harringay and Tottenham Green Village Markets. They soon opened a permanent space and have been a hub of great coffee, food, cocktails, hospitality and community events ever since. The team spent lockdown re-working their food offering with a focus on South-East Asian flavours inspired by Matt’s Singaporean heritage and head-chef Louis’ passion for Asian cooking.

We sampled the banh mi char siu pork served up with zingy pickled daikon and all the trimmings in a big chewy ciabatta and it was hella tasty. They do a vegan hoisin jackfruit number as well, but next time we’ll be trying their tamago ramen. And maybe a cocktail. Craving are open for takeaway and dine-in with their generous outdoor seating Thursday until Monday from 10am through to 4pm with a special Friday night service on until 11pm. Drinks all round.

Woodberry Blooms

A stroll further south leads us to Woodberry Blooms in Manor House.

This florist come coffee shop is a non-profit business with all the proceeds going to the Manor House Development trust, who run the Redmond Community Centre just around the corner from the shop and provide community services like employment support and vocational training.

We picked up a very nice filter coffee to sip in nearby Woodberry Wetlands and a bunch of dried forever flowers to bring a dose of colourful spring sunshine to the WFH set up.

Stokey's Deli

Step count is on the up as we make our way into beautiful Stoke Newington for a pit-stop at Stokey’s Deli.

This cute corner shop is loaded up with everything you need for a picnic in the park. Cheeses, natural wines and little treats all round. We pick up a bag of Climpson’s Estate to brew at home. The shelf is loaded up and the team are ready to recommend the best beans for you.

Oh we are so happy Lardo is back on their sunny terrace. Old friends of Climpson’s and our London Fields neighbours we’re big fans of everything they do.

The team have headed to Daterra Estate in Brazil with us to see The Baron growing first hand as well as contributing a banging recipe for our Brunch at Home project back in lockdown 1.0.

They’ve now got more outdoor seating and are serving up all their signature small plates, pastas and pizzas for al fresco dining perfection. They’re fully booked for the day (... little hint, get yourself a table booked in ASAP) so we pick up a pizza-to go and head over to London Fields to soak up the sunny rays. Couldn’t eat a pizza without sipping our first aperol spritz of the season.

Meringue Girls

MG are an absolute East London institution for their colourful meringue-based creations. Their bakery in Broadway Market mews is a hub for their foodie masterclasses and opens it’s doors every Saturday to pick up a slice.

We got their just in time to catch the last piece of their outrageous tiramisu meringue pie, made with our very own Broadway Blend. We love seeing our wholesale partners get creative with our coffee and make things we could never dream of. Example being this 15cm high meringue masterpiece. Still drooling.

Brat at Climpson’s Arch

We arrive at Climpson’s Arch and the first brunch service back for Brat is in full swing. Tomos Parry began his coveted career as head chef at Climpsons Arch back in 2013, where he won the British Young Foodie Award before he wont on to open Brat in 2018 swiftly acquiring their first michelin star in the same year. Now he’s brought the team back to take residency in the yard once again.

Propping up the bar we soak up the Climpson’s Arch atmosphere. The buzz of Hackney locals enjoying their first meal out in quite some time was infectious. Chef’s stoked the wood fired grill and generous plates loaded up with whole turbot and smoked potatoes flew from the outdoor kitchen. We had a little nostalgic moment for all the parties that place has seen. It’s great to see it full of life and serving up truly stand-out food and hospitality.

One last item to finish off our drinking and dining tour had to be a round of Espresso Martini’s on tap. Our small batch production is kegged and infused with nitrogen before being poured through the busy taps of the Arch. The day starts to slowly fade into night and after a few thousand steps, a few too many coffees (... 4 and counting at this point) and some real treats from the menu we’re just about ready to sign off.

It’s been a delight to swing by and see our coffee lovingly made and enjoyed through such varied businesses and environments across the city. We love seeing all the care and attention you lot put into pouring the perfect espresso or brewing the best filter - as well as all the social initiatives, menu creativity and stand out hospitality our coffee is served alongside. We couldn’t be prouder to work with you all.
