People. Planet. Processing.

Founded in 1890, Aquiares is one of the oldest coffee farms in Costa Rica. Set high on the fertile slopes of the Turrialba volcano, the estate spans more than 600 hectares of shaded coffee alongside 200 hectares of protected rainforest. Its name translates as "land between rivers", reflecting the pristine spring water, volcanic soils and unique landscape that have made it one of the country's most celebrated coffee origins.

The farm's modern story began when Don Alfonso Robelo took over in the early 1990s, transforming Aquiares into a leader in sustainable specialty coffee. Today, his son Diego continues to push the farm forward through innovative processing, pioneering coffee varieties and long-term investment in both the environment and the local community. Aquiares is more than a farm—it's a thriving coffee town, complete with its own nursery, wet mill and infrastructure, allowing every stage of production to be carefully managed from seed to export.
We've been fortunate enough to visit Aquiares ourselves, and it's one of those places that stays with you. Seeing an entire community built around coffee, with genuine care for both people and the land, left a lasting impression. We also catch up with Diego most years at World of Coffee. His curiosity and commitment to continuous improvement are exactly why we've loved the coffee from Aquiaries.

This release showcases one of Aquiares' standout red honey processed coffees, bringing together vibrant fruit character, sweetness and clarity in the cup. It's a coffee that reflects everything we love about Aquiares: progressive farming, outstanding quality and a genuine commitment to building a better future for coffee.
