This course is for anyone that has already worked in coffee but are looking to further their careers. During this SCA approved module you will gain a deeper understanding of coffee from varieties, origins and processing methods and how they impact on flavour.

You will learn to create an espresso recipe from scratch and understand how different parameters are used to create a balanced espresso. You will hone your taste in order to identify acidity, sweetness and bitterness in espresso and adapt a recipe accordingly.

You will also receive further training on steaming and pouring milk and explore a wide range of latte art designs. This module will also cover work efficiency within the hospitality environment and the finer details of excellent customer service.

The training is provided by Jon Townsend at The Institute of Coffee.

Required exams, passing scores: Written Exam 70%

Recommended Prerequisite: Introduction to Coffee, Barista Skills Foundation.

This module takes place in-person at Climpson & Sons HQ at Unit 5 Helmsley Place, Hackney, E8 3SB. Minimum Length: 14 hours

  • SCA Courses - Can my booking be cancelled after confirmation?

    Yes. Bookings may be cancelled with a minimum of 5 working days notice before the course start date by contacting us via email or phone. We will then issue you a refund within 2 working days.

  • What happens if my course is cancelled?

    We always endeavour to ensure this does not happen but on the off chance that we can’t avoid it we will ensure to contact you as soon as possible via the contact details you supplied to us when booking your course. You will be offered either to re-book for a future date or receive a full refund.
