A Single Origin Coffee from Myanmar

Emerging Asian origins have a special place in the Climpson & Sons range with our team working closely with import friends, Indochina Coffee, to grow and promote these coffees. As their supply chain has grown we have seen the quality and traceability improve so dramatically that we are now able to offer a women-led microlot project utilising an experimental processing method. A huge step forward for a country that has been exporting specialty coffee for less than a decade.

The Story

This coffee, from the Nwar Ban Gyi village, is the brainchild of pioneering women seeking to promote and support local female farmers. Having built a processing station, dubbed ‘The Lady’, there are now over 400 local women contributing their coffee cherries within 18 hours of picking. Keen to push the boundaries in processing as well as equality, these ripe cherries are placed in sealed fermentation tanks for a 48 hour carbonic maceration. Following this they are pulped, to separate beans from their fruit, and dried with a sticky layer of mucilage in-tact. These unique efforts add a layer of complexity and intrigue to the resulting coffee with sweet tasting notes of pecan, apple and fig sure to liven up your morning filter brew.

Our ambition is to continue sourcing, roasting and crafting the finest coffees from the heart of East London.
